Learning How to man and how to show up as a man has greatly improved my marriage. I appreciate all the advice and encouragement. E.g. Alex,Getting emotional when talking of surrendering to our partner as “perfect” resonates deeply. Coming to that conclusion was, for me, preceded by daggers to the heart...torturous gifts to heal and move out of my lifelong shame, blame and guilt toward greater love. My relationships have taught me, gradually, to be less “hurt-able. ” To extend empathy and love for our partner is to extend it to ourself.It is ironic: that to love is to be drained already from squarely facing fear, doubt, abandonment and many other very sad losses.
